Cuidados del adulto mayor que reside en zonas montañosas: importancia del conocimiento del profesional de enfermería

El cuidado en enfermería debe abordarse desde una perspectiva holística que permita cubrir las necesidades reales de los pacientes en su entorno. El enfermero tiene entre sus funciones la de ayudar al anciano enfermo o sano a realizar las actividades que contribuyen a su salud, a la recuperación o una muerte tranquila en la comunidad. Este artículo tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre el papel que juegan los enfermeros en la atención al adulto mayor que reside en zonas montañosas y la importancia que recobra el elevar los conocimientos de esos profesionales en este sentido.

Nursing care must be approached from a holistic perspective that allows covering the patients' real needs in their environment. One of the functions of the nurse is to help the sick or healthy elderly person to carry out the activities that contribute to their health, recovery or a peaceful death in the community. This article aims to reflect on the role that nurses play in caring for the elderly who live in mountainous areas and the importance of increasing these professionals' knowledge of in this regard.

Ingreso domiciliario en tiempos de COVID: reto para el accionar del profesional de enfermería

RESUMEN Un método de asistencia muy frecuente en la comunidad es el ingreso en el hogar, puesto en práctica ampliamente durante la pandemia de COVID-19, en que el médico y la enfermera de la familia debían visitar diariamente a los pacientes diagnosticados. Pero, debido al aumento de casos, realmente no se alcanzaba a visitar la totalidad de los ingresos. Ante este hecho, el personal de enfermería se impuso un reto a su desempeño profesional, que comprendió la preparación técnica, sobre todo a la hora de realizar el examen físico, haciendo énfasis en la auscultación por ser el aparato respiratorio el más afectado en el paciente con COVID. Este artículo tiene como objetivo realizar consideraciones que expresan el punto de vista de la autora, para quien constituye un reto y desafío en el desempeño del personal de enfermería los ingresos domiciliarios a pacientes enfermos con COVID-19.

ABSTRACT A very common method of care in the community is home admission, widely practiced during the COVID-19 pandemic, in which the family doctor and nurse were required to visit diagnosed patients daily at home. But, due to the increase in cases, it was not really possible to visit all the admissions. Given this fact, the nursing staff imposed a challenge on their professional performance, which included technical preparation, especially when performing the physical examination, emphasizing auscultation, since the respiratory system is the most affected in the patient sick from COVID. The objective of this article is to make considerations that express the author`s point of view who considers home admissions to sick patients with COVID-19 a challenge in the performance of nursing staff.
